The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team secured a victory against No. 6 Augsburg with a score of 4-2 on Saturday at Hobbs Ice Arena. This match marked the Blugolds' Senior Day, and it was their second win over a top-10 opponent this season, extending their winning streak to six games.

UW-Eau Claire, now holding a record of 10-3-0, took an early lead with two goals and maintained control throughout the game. Madisyn Krumholz opened the scoring late in the first period with assistance from Maddie Hulter. In the second period, Sam Moehle scored a power play goal assisted by Ashley Wagenbach.

Augsburg responded four minutes later with their first goal, but UW-Eau Claire's Sadie Long scored another goal midway through the second period, assisted by Ava Johansson and Adrienne Hansen, bringing the score to 3-1. Augsburg managed one more goal before the end of the second period. The game concluded with Long securing an empty-net goal in the final seconds, aided by Samantha Bandholz and Ava Bullert.

Kaia Hollingsworth contributed significantly to the win by stopping 23 shots on goal. The Blugolds successfully defended against seven Augsburg power plays during the match.

Before the game began, five seniors were honored in a pregame ceremony: Bandholz, Ellie Andersen, Quinn Hartmetz, Long, and Hollingsworth.

The Blugolds will resume play in January when they host Hamline at Hobbs Ice Arena on January 6 at 7 p.m.
