The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team concluded its regular season with a loss against No. 41 Grinnell, with the final score of 7-0. The Blugolds managed to secure the top doubles match victory, but Grinnell prevailed in crucial singles matches, determining the overall result.
Samantha Fuchs and Anna Lee displayed a strong performance by winning the No. 1 doubles match with a score of 6-2. However, the Blugolds were unable to capitalize on this success, losing the remaining two doubles matches, which allowed Grinnell to take a 1-0 lead before the singles competition began.
In singles play, the Pioneers achieved a clean sweep across all six matches. Despite the final result, three of these matches were notably competitive, advancing to third-set tiebreaks. Anna Lee narrowly lost at No. 2 singles, Liv Herzog was edged out at No. 4 singles, and Aubrey Wittwer fell short at No. 6 singles.
Next, the Blugolds are set to participate in the WIAC Team Tournament on April 26. Their semifinal match-up will be against UW-La Crosse at UW-Whitewater.
