The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's basketball team extended its winning streak to six games with a decisive 76-58 victory over the University of Northwestern (Minn.) on Wednesday at the Ericksen Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Blugolds took control early, establishing a 20-point lead by halftime and maintaining their advantage throughout the game.
UW-Eau Claire, now with a record of 7-3, finished the first half strong with a 19-2 run, leaving Northwestern unable to recover. During the final 4:50 of the first half, UW-Eau Claire kept Northwestern scoreless. Michael Casper and Carter Huschka were instrumental in this run, contributing 14 points between them and securing a substantial 46-26 lead at halftime.
In the second half, UW-Eau Claire maintained a lead of at least 16 points throughout. Carter Huschka achieved his second double-double of the season with game-highs of 22 points, 14 rebounds, and five assists. Teammate Carter Lichtsinn added 13 points to the scoreboard, while Michael Casper and Andre Renta each contributed eight points.
The Blugolds shot an impressive 48% from the field and dominated rebounding efforts with a margin of 44-32 over Northwestern.
Looking ahead, UW-Eau Claire aims for a seventh consecutive win as they host Carleton College on December 30 at the Sonnentag Event Center. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m.
