The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team secured a 5-2 win over Bethel University at Hobbs Ice Arena on Wednesday night. The Blugolds, ranked 11th, capitalized on a strong third period to ensure their victory.
Samantha Bandholz initiated the scoring for the Blugolds in the seventh minute of the first period with an assist from Ava Bullert. Bethel quickly responded with a goal just 15 seconds later and took the lead early in the second period.
Ashley Wagenbach leveled the score for UW-Eau Claire at 7:19 in the second period, assisted by Sadie Long and Ava Johansson. The Blugolds then dominated the third period, beginning with Johansson's goal at 5:20, again assisted by Long.
Maddie Hulter contributed another goal at 6:18 with assists from Rachel Mirwald and Lauren Ballinger. Keira Bolt concluded the game with an empty-net goal in its final moments, assisted by Quinn Hartmetz.
Looking ahead, the Blugolds are set to play against College of St. Scholastica on Friday, December 13, at 6 p.m. in Duluth, Minnesota.
