The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team faced a setback in their Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) campaign, losing 3-0 to UW-La Crosse on Saturday at Simpson Field. The match coincided with Senior Day, where nine seniors were honored.
UW-La Crosse, which recently received votes in the United Soccer Coaches national poll, secured their victory with two goals in the first half and an additional goal in the second half. They took the lead with a goal in the 15th minute and extended it nine minutes later. The final goal came in the 63rd minute.
Kennedy Boll made eight saves for UW-Eau Claire. Despite being outshot 18-7 by UW-La Crosse, this was UW-Eau Claire's first defeat in WIAC play this season. The Blugolds have accumulated nine points within conference play and are still vying for a spot in the WIAC Tournament.
During the Senior Day ceremony, seniors Paige Crawford, Kori Millis, Elise Pinewski, Josie Ellingson, Grace Prairie, Molly Henderson, Kennedy Boll, Sophie Hubbard, and Vanessa Grunwald were recognized for their contributions to the team.
Next up for UW-Eau Claire is an away game against St. Norbert College on Sunday, October 27 at 2 p.m.
