The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's men's and women's cross country teams have been recognized for their academic achievements by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for 2024. Both teams earned All-Academic team status, with several individual athletes also receiving honors.
The Blugold women's team achieved a collective GPA of 3.62, which was the highest among Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) teams this season. The men's team posted a GPA of 3.33 to secure their All-Academic status.
Five female runners from UW-Eau Claire were named All-Academic athletes: Keeley Behr from Aurora, Illinois; Molly Heidorn from Colfax, Wisconsin; Bella Hooker from Kewaskum, Wisconsin; Allison Weissinger from River Falls, Wisconsin; and Reagan Zimmerman from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. On the men's side, four honorees included Trevor LaMirande from Dresser, Wisconsin; Jesse Peterson from St. Paul, Minnesota; Mason Shea from River Falls, Wisconsin; and Sam Verkerke from White Bear Lake, Minnesota.
To qualify for All-Academic distinction as individuals, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet. Teams are required to have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale among other criteria to earn the honor.
