Central College edged out the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team 2-1 in a non-conference match on Sunday at the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex Soccer Field in Pella, Iowa. The Blugolds, now 0-2 on the season, managed to tie the game early in the second half but could not overcome a late goal by Central.

UW-Eau Claire began the match aggressively, with Mikalyn Hidde testing Central goalkeeper Zoey Sizemore less than two minutes into play. Despite several attempts from Anna Lorenzana and Magnolia Millar Bruzek, UWEC was unable to score in the first half and trailed 1-0 at halftime following an early goal by Central.

Caroline Curran equalized for the Blugolds in the 49th minute, assisted by Emma Donovan and Hidde. Bella Jones, UWEC's goalkeeper, kept her team in contention with five saves throughout the match. However, Central reclaimed the lead in the 85th minute when Rylee Rustad scored what proved to be the game-winning goal.

Curran led UW-Eau Claire with one goal and two shots on target from three attempts. Hidde contributed an assist and registered one shot on goal from two shots overall. Donovan also recorded an assist and had one shot on target from two attempts. Jones played all 90 minutes in goal for UWEC.

The Dutch improved their record to 2-0 after this win.

UW-Eau Claire will travel next to face Wheaton College (Ill.) at Joe Bean Stadium on September 5 at 5 p.m.
