UW-Eau Claire women’s soccer falls 2-0 to Luther College

Luther College defeated the UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team 2-0 on Wednesday in Decorah, Iowa. The match remained scoreless through the first half, with both teams creating chances but unable to convert.

UW-Eau Claire started aggressively, as Emma Donovan took an early shot in the third minute that went over the goal. Johanna Thompson was active for the Blugolds and had multiple attempts, including a shot in the 26th minute saved by Luther's goalkeeper Elisabeth Queoff. On defense, Bella Jones made a key save at the ten-minute mark to keep the game tied going into halftime.

In the second half, Luther took control quickly. Ava Stemler scored in the 46th minute with help from Katelyn Lynch. Five minutes later, Lauren Linkletter added another goal for Luther. Despite efforts from Lisette Thurman and Josie Steeno to close the gap, UW-Eau Claire could not find a way past Luther's defense. Additional shots by Haley Von Rentzell and Sabrina Pickart were also stopped.

Thompson led UW-Eau Claire with four shots, two of which were on target. Jones finished with four saves after facing nine shots during her time in goal. Von Rentzell contributed two shots on target while Thurman had two attempts from midfield.

Following this result, UW-Eau Claire holds a 1-5-1 overall record for the season while Luther improves to 4-1-1.
