The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's soccer team opened its season with a 2-0 win over Carroll University at Schneider Stadium in Waukesha, Wisconsin, on Sunday. The Blugolds scored once in each half and limited the Pioneers to three shots on goal.

Ramzi Ouro, making his debut for UW-Eau Claire, put the visitors ahead in the 27th minute after connecting with Alek Laroi on a corner kick. Elijah Post also contributed offensively with a set piece attempt later in the first half. Despite two fouls by Noah Malcook, the Blugolds maintained their lead going into halftime.

In the second half, Malcook extended UW-Eau Claire's advantage with a goal in the 86th minute. The Blugolds continued to create chances, including shots from Post and Sean Redmond that were stopped by Carroll goalkeeper Jason Brunger. On defense, Charlie Mroz recorded one save to keep a clean sheet for UW-Eau Claire.

Malcook finished with one goal and led the team with one shot on goal. Ouro added another goal from two total shots, while Laroi provided an assist. Mroz played all 90 minutes in goal.

With this result, UW-Eau Claire starts its season at 1-0-0 while Carroll drops to 1-1-0.

UW-Eau Claire will travel next to Superior, Wisconsin, to face UW-Superior on Thursday, September 4 at Superior Choice Credit Union Stadium. More information about the team can be found at Blugolds.com or through their social media channels.
