The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team secured a 2-1 victory over the College of St. Scholastica at Mars Lakeview Arena in Duluth, Minnesota. This win marked their fifth consecutive triumph.
The Blugolds, ranked 11th, started strong with Maddie Hulter scoring just under five minutes into the game, assisted by Ashley Wagenbach. Ellie Andersen then doubled the lead with a power play goal late in the first period, with assists from Quinn Hartmetz and Lauren Ballinger.
St. Scholastica managed to score once late in the second period but could not equalize before the end of the match. Kaia Hollingsworth contributed to the victory with 12 saves in net, marking her first win as a Blugold.
Throughout the game, the Blugolds outshot their opponents 38-13.
Looking ahead, UW-Eau Claire is set to face No. 6 Augsburg on Saturday at Hobbs Ice Arena. The event will also serve as Senior Day for the team, honoring its five graduating members before the game starts at 2 p.m.
