The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team played against Wartburg College in Iowa on Wednesday in a nonconference match. The game saw both teams taking 13 combined shots on goal. Wartburg's two early goals led to a 2-1 defeat for UWEC.
Wartburg scored twice within the first seven minutes, putting Eau Claire at an immediate disadvantage. Molly Henderson brought the Blugolds closer with a penalty kick goal in the 65th minute, marking her third goal of the season.
Kennedy Boll and Bella Jones each played one half for Eau Claire, combining for five saves on seven shots on goal. Boll was given the loss and now holds a record of 4-5-1 for the season.
The Blugolds (4-5-1) will next play against Christopher Newport University in La Crosse, Wisconsin, on Sunday, September 29. The game is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
