The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team faced Simpson College in a nonconference match on Saturday in Indianola, Iowa. The Blugolds conceded the first two goals but responded with one goal in each half. However, Simpson College secured a 3-2 victory with a final goal in the second half.
Hayley Von Rentzell led the Blugold attack with her first brace of the season, scoring in the 28th and 89th minutes to narrow Simpson's lead each time. Emma Donovan provided the assist for Von Rentzell's first goal.
Simpson College's early offensive pressure resulted in two goals within the first 16 minutes. The Storm maintained their attacking momentum throughout the game, recording 12 shots on goal.
Kennedy Boll, defending for Eau Claire, stopped nine of those shots but ultimately recorded her fourth loss of the season. Boll’s record now stands at 4-4-1.
The Blugolds (4-4-1) will return to Iowa on Wednesday, September 25th, to face Wartburg College at Salzwedel Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
