The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's soccer team secured a victory at home on Saturday, defeating the 8th ranked University of Chicago with a score of 1-0. The decisive goal came early in the match.
Carson Kowalski, a junior from Mundelein, Wis., scored in the 11th minute with a back post run on a corner kick. The assist came from Carter Thiesfeld, a senior from Forest Lake, Minn. This early lead proved sufficient for the Blugolds.
Throughout the first half, UWEC's offense dominated with nine shots on goal compared to Chicago's one. In the second half, Chicago intensified their attack but failed to score as Eau Claire's defense remained solid.
