The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire football team faced Bethel University in their final nonconference game of the season on Saturday. Despite a strong start, the Blugolds were unable to maintain their lead and ultimately fell 51-30.

The Blugolds began the game with momentum as Franko Williams caught a 28-yard touchdown pass from Harry Roubidoux, tying the score with Bethel. Connor Radaj added a 27-yard field goal before the end of the first quarter, giving Eau Claire their first lead of the game.

In the second quarter, after an answer by Bethel, Williams caught his second touchdown pass to regain the lead for Eau Claire. However, Bethel responded with two touchdowns and a field goal before halftime, leaving UWEC at a 15-point deficit.

Isaac Garside contributed significantly in the second half with two touchdown receptions, reducing the deficit to eight points. Roubidoux ended the day with four touchdown passes and 402 passing yards, bringing his season totals to 11 touchdowns and 978 passing yards.

Defensively, JP Wolterstorff and Brady Hoffner led with six tackles each, while Walker Korish had five. Despite losing the turnover battle, Drake Fortson recorded a strip sack recovered by Jack Scheldroup early in the first quarter. Caden Tonsager blocked a Bethel field goal on their final drive.

The Blugolds (1-2) will have a bye week before beginning Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play on October 5th at Ramer Field against Smith Stadium at 1 p.m.
