Mitch Stegeman competes with DI athletes at Jim Click Shootout

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's men's track and field athlete, Mitch Stegeman, began his outdoor season at the Jim Click Shootout and Multis hosted by the University of Arizona. Stegeman participated against Division I rivals from the ACC and Big 12, securing seventh place among 12 competitors at the event's conclusion.

A decorated athlete, Stegeman has clinched the Division III national champion titles in the decathlon in 2023 and heptathlon in 2024. At the end of the first day, he had scored 3,603 points, positioning him for the final segment of the meet.

Competing against representatives from Louisville, Kansas, and Oklahoma State, Stegeman's highlight was tying for fourth in the high jump. Additional performances included a sixth-place finish in the shot put, seventh in the long jump, eighth in the 400-meter dash, and ninth in the 100-meter race.

The decathlon is set to conclude on Saturday, April 5, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Mountain Time, with five more events scheduled.
