The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team achieved a comeback victory against Gustavus Adolphus College, ranked No. 2, with a score of 4-3 at Hobbs Ice Arena. The Blugolds overcame an initial 2-0 deficit by scoring four consecutive goals.
Gustavus Adolphus established an early lead in the first period, but Ava Bullert responded for the Blugolds with a goal assisted by Samantha Bandholz and Kylie Wiltse. Wiltse later tied the game in the second period during a power play, with assists from Bullert and Ashley Wagenbach. Madisyn Krumholz then scored to give UW-Eau Claire a 3-2 lead, assisted by Maddie Hulter.
Sadie Long secured the win with an empty-net goal, making it 4-2 before Gustavus scored once more. Tegan Swanson contributed with 18 saves for UW-Eau Claire.
This victory marks UW-Eau Claire's first win over a top-five ranked team since defeating UW-River Falls in February 2023.
The Blugolds are set to play against UW-Stevens Point on December 5 at K.B. Willett Arena.
