The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire volleyball team played at home on Wednesday in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) match against UW-River Falls. Despite losing the first set, the Blugolds won the next three sets to secure a 3-1 victory.

"Abby Stanwood (Jr. – Excelsior, Minn.) returned to the court after an early season injury and led the Blugolds offensively with 14 kills," according to a statement from the team. Stanwood also contributed defensively with 14 digs.

The team's efficiency improved in the final three sets, swinging above 19.4% with only 11 errors on 138 attempts and recording 43 kills. "Efficient play from the net translated to the service line as Eau Claire tallied seven aces," noted another part of the statement. Kaitlyn Erickson (Fr. – Champlin, Minn.) led with three aces.

Ella Kiebel (Jr. – Maple Lake, Minn.) facilitated ball distribution across the court, contributing 32 assists during what was described as "the team's first WIAC victory of the season."

Looking ahead, the Blugolds (9-4-0, WIAC 1-1) will participate in an out-of-state tournament on September 27 and 28 in Lexington, Ky., for the Transylvania Invite. They are scheduled to face Mount St. Joseph University on Friday at 3 p.m. EST at Clive M. Beck Center.
