Dr. Lisa Schulte Moore, a University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire alumna and Eau Claire native, will return to her alma mater on October 9 as the featured speaker for the Mayo-sponsored Imagine Lecture Series. Her presentation is titled “Innovations in Sustainable Agriculture and Energy.”
Schulte Moore graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a biology degree in 1993. She currently serves as the Charles F. Curtiss distinguished professor in agricultural and life sciences, associate director of the Bioeconomy Institute, and professor of natural resource ecology and management at Iowa State University. In 2021, she received a MacArthur Fellowship from the MacArthur Foundation for her contributions to science.
She last visited UW-Eau Claire in 2023 for the National Conference on Undergraduate Research. Speaking about her upcoming lecture, Schulte Moore said, “I believe people and nature can thrive together — and I’ve seen what’s possible when creative minds from different sectors unite. I’m thrilled to return to my hometown to share our innovations and invite others to imagine what’s next.”
The Imagine Lecture Series was established to honor Dr. David Winter. John Padjen, hospital administrator, commented on this year’s event: “The Imagine Lecture Series was established to honor the life and legacy of Dr. David Winter, whose boundless intellectual curiosity and fascination with human achievement continues to inspire us.”
Padjen added: “This year, we are privileged to present Dr. Lisa Schulte Moore, a thought leader in sustainable agriculture and renewable energy. Her work embodies the spirit of innovation that Dr. Winter so admired, and we look forward to learning how her vision for a circular bioeconomy can shape the future of the Midwest.”
The event is free and open to students, faculty, staff, and members of the public; registration is requested.
