2nd St/Hwy 35 Update

13

City of Hudson issued the following announcement on Sept. 21

Work on the project has continued to progress even as storms have ravaged the area. I hope that everyone receiving this message has been able to clean up the debris left from the storm or has been able to find help to do so.

This week’s work entails the following:

  • Work on ancillary items (sidewalks, retaining walls, etc.) between Vine Street and St Croix Street
  • Finishing grading and (hopefully) pouring concrete pavement on the west side of the street between Division Street and South Street, with some exceptions at the Division Street and North Street intersections to allow access to residents
  • Work on utilities between South Street and Monroe Street in North Hudson
Next week’s work looks to be as follows:

  • Milling 2nd Street/Coulee Road/Buckeye Street intersection on Monday, September 27th
  • Repair of poor joints in Coulee/Buckeye intersection nights of Tuesday, September 28th – Thursday, September 30th – will require night-time full closures of the intersection
  • Completion of concrete on the west side of the road between Division Street and South Street
  • Continuation of utility work between South Street and Monroe Street in North Hudson
Beyond next week, Monday, October 4th is the tentative schedule for asphalt paving of the Coulee/Buckeye intersection. This work will be done at night and will require a night-time full closure of the intersection.

Regarding the night-time closures of the Coulee/Buckeye intersection, the closures will last from approximately 7:00 pm to 7:00 am each night to allow for the contractor to more quickly complete the work with the least impact possible to traffic.

The switching of traffic to the west side of the road between Division Street and South Street is tentatively scheduled for October 4th.

The City and project team are discouraging any new launches from the boat launch due to the constrained construction area. If you have a boat that needs to be removed from the water via Corky’s Pier Boat Landing, please remove that boat by October 3rd. After that date, construction will be switching over to the other side of 2nd Street and the boat launch will likely be totally inaccessible until early November. Any boat launch traffic accessing 2nd Street will need to follow the temporary traffic signals pointed toward the Public Works facility driveway for safe access to 2nd Street. Unfortunately, there is no way to change the dates on this access deadline without jeopardizing the ability of the project to complete on time this year.
