For the second consecutive year, the University of Wisconsin-Stout has been recognized by Money Magazine as one of America's Best Colleges. This acknowledgment highlights the university's dedication to affordability and positive student outcomes.
According to UW-Stout's Career Services' annual First Destination Report, 99% of recent graduates find employment or continue their education within six months after graduation. Over the past five years, alumni have been employed by 125 Fortune 500 companies, with 85% working in Wisconsin and Minnesota. The average starting salary for undergraduates is $57,000, while master's degree holders earn an average of $74,000.
Career Services Director Bryan Barts stated: “UW-Stout’s commitment to creating degrees that align with and support a wide range of industries across the state shows its strength as Wisconsin’s Polytechnic University. Our ability to infuse hands-on projects into first-year through capstone courses helps students to develop skills that impact the workforce immediately beyond graduation.”
Money Magazine's annual list evaluates schools based on factors such as graduation rates, cost of attendance, financial aid, and alumni salaries. Less than 15% of schools listed received four stars or more like UW-Stout.
The university emphasizes applied learning with extensive lab and studio spaces available for students from day one. Bryan Barts also noted: “Many of our Career Services programs...are rooted in developing students’ career readiness competencies...”
More than 1,000 students participate annually in UW-Stout’s Cooperative Education and Internship Program (CEIP), which collaborates with over 500 companies nationally. Barts added: “Our employer partners share with me repeatedly that hiring a UW-Stout student is a goal...”
The CEIP program was honored with the 2024 Excellence & Innovation Stewards of Place award from the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.
UW-Stout offers more than 50 undergraduate and 25 graduate programs across various fields including engineering and art and design.
