The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's tennis team experienced its first loss in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) this season with a 7-0 defeat against No. 25 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday.

In the doubles and singles matches, the Warhawks excelled, defeating their opponent in each event. The most competitive match occurred at No. 3 singles, where Otto Schluter, a senior from Henfield, England, lost in a three-set match with scores of 6-3, 1-6, and 3-6.

Billy Hughes, a freshman from Trowbridge, England, had a closely contested game at No. 4 singles but ultimately suffered a loss with set scores of 6-4 and 6-4. UW-Whitewater captured all the doubles matches, each game having a winning margin of at least three games.

Looking ahead, the Blugolds aim to recover in their upcoming game against UW-La Crosse on April 17 at 4 p.m.
