The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire baseball team faced a setback, losing both games of a doubleheader against UW-Stevens Point. The Blugolds were defeated with scores of 12-4 and 8-1 at Zimmermann Field.

The Blugolds managed to tie the game early in the first matchup after falling behind 2-0. Brayton Thillman and Jack Eustice contributed with a sacrifice fly and an RBI single, respectively. However, UW-Stevens Point pulled ahead with two RBI doubles in the third inning and expanded their lead, ultimately winning the game 12-4.

Diego Caicedo led the offense for the Blugolds, securing an RBI in both the fourth and sixth innings, although that was insufficient to close the gap. Jack Eustice concluded Game 1 with two hits, while Aaron Skrypek displayed an impressive performance in relief, striking out seven batters over six innings and allowing only two earned runs.

In the second game, the Pointers took an early lead, and UW-Eau Claire struggled to keep pace. Austin Curti drove in a run in the sixth, but UW-Stevens Point responded with four more runs, culminating in a three-run homer. Tapio Niemioja started the game, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing four runs on five hits.

The Blugolds will return to their home field, Carson Park, to host UW-Oshkosh in a four-game series over the weekend, with games scheduled to begin at midday on both days. Fans can follow the season's progress through Blugolds.com, the Blugold Sports app, and social media platforms.
