The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire softball team ended its participation in the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational with two losses on Sunday at Inspiration Field in Bloomington, Illinois. The team lost to the College of Wooster, 3-1, and Illinois Wesleyan, 6-4.

The first game saw the Blugolds (18-6) unable to overcome four errors, resulting in all three runs by Wooster (7-15) being unearned. Wooster scored in the third inning and added two more in the fourth. Despite an RBI single from Paige Lathrop in the seventh inning, UW-Eau Claire could not rally and left the bases loaded as the game concluded.

Megan Patterson led the offense with two hits, while Jacie Schultz pitched six innings without allowing any earned runs, striking out three.

In the second game, UW-Eau Claire initially led against Illinois Wesleyan thanks to a three-run homer by Claire Beck in the third inning. However, the Titans regained the lead with their own three-run homer in the fourth inning and added a run in the fifth.

Molly Marquardt hit an RBI double for the Blugolds, and Beck pitched a complete game with four strikeouts.

Next, UW-Eau Claire begins Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a doubleheader against No. 22 UW-Stevens Point on Saturday, April 12, in Stevens Point. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
