UW-Eau Claire falls to UW-Stout in double losses at Carson Park

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire baseball team concluded their four-game series against UW-Stout with two losses on Sunday at Carson Park. The scores were 12-8 and 25-4 (7 innings) in favor of the Blue Devils.

In the first game, UW-Eau Claire, now with a record of 6-13 and 0-8 in conference play, faced a seven-run deficit over six innings. However, the team's performance improved in the seventh inning as Drew Salyers, Austin Buck, and Jack Eustice each delivered RBI singles, narrowing the gap to 8-7.

Despite the late push, UW-Stout extended their lead by scoring three runs in the eighth inning and one more in the ninth. The Blugolds added one run in the eighth due to an error but could not close the gap. Austin Curti, Cole Clausen, and Jack Eustice each contributed two hits in the opening contest.

In the second match, UW-Stout demonstrated dominance by scoring four runs or more in five of the seven innings, concluding with a 25-4 victory. This score is the second-highest recorded against UW-Eau Claire. UW-Stout's performance included four home runs.

Individual performances for UW-Eau Claire included a solo home run from Drew Salyers and a two-run homer by Austin Buck. Buck contributed three RBIs and finished 3-for-3 at the plate, with Salyers securing two hits.

UW-Eau Claire will next face UW-Stevens Point in a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 9, with the first game scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
