Blugolds dominate Carthage in women's tennis, sweep all nine matches

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team secured a decisive 7-0 victory against Carthage at Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Sunday. The Blugolds clinched victory by winning all nine matches in the competition.

The Blugolds, now holding an 11-8 record, performed strongly in doubles. Notably, Samantha Fuchs and Anna Lee won their match in the top flight with a score of 6-1. In the singles matches, the team displayed consistent performance, winning five out of six matches in straight sets.

Fuchs excelled in the No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 win, while Lee won the No. 2 match 6-0, 6-2. Beatriz Felchak secured the No. 3 match with scores of 6-3, 6-1. At No. 4, Liv Herzog achieved a 7-5, 6-1 victory. Reese Burton overcame a tough match to win 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 at No. 5, and Aubrey Wittwer completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at No. 6.

Looking ahead, the Blugolds are set to compete in two more dual matches before the WIAC Team Tournament. Their next face-off is scheduled against Central College on Saturday, April 12, at 4 p.m. in Pella, Iowa.
