UW-Eau Claire men's tennis wins WIAC opener against UW-Stevens Point

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's tennis team emerged victorious in their Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opener against the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, with a 5-2 win. The match took place at the home court of the Blugolds. They claimed victories in both doubles and singles, securing the win with two doubles and four singles triumphs.

The doubles competitions set the tone for the match when Juan Gallego and Ethan Wurzel recorded a 6-1 win in the No. 1 flight. Similarly, Sam Murillo and Pablo Rincón achieved a hard-fought 7-6 (2) victory at No. 2 doubles.

In the singles contests, Pablo Rincón secured a comfortable win in the No. 2 match, finishing 6-2, 6-1. Otto Schluter continued the winning streak at No. 3 with a 6-3, 6-0 score. Additionally, Billy Hughes prevailed in the No. 4 position with a 6-1, 6-3 result, while Sam Murillo rounded off the singles triumphs at No. 5, 6-4, 6-4.

The Blugolds will continue their WIAC campaign with an upcoming match against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, scheduled for Saturday, April 12, with the start time set for 11:30 a.m.
