The University of Wisconsin-Stout's online programs have been recognized by U.S. News & World Report in its 2025 rankings for their quality and flexibility, making them suitable for working professionals seeking to advance their education. The institution offers over 30 online bachelor's and master's programs along with various certificates and courses.

U.S. News & World Report has highlighted four of UW-Stout's programs: Best Online Master’s in Engineering Programs, ranked in the Top 20 in the Midwest and No. 70 overall; Best Online Master’s in Education Programs, placed in the Top 45 in the Midwest and No. 150 overall; Best Online Bachelor’s in Business Programs, positioned among the Top 15 in the Midwest and No. 87 overall. Additionally, UW-Stout was ranked No. 230 for Best Online Bachelor's Programs.

Provost Glendalí Rodríguez emphasized UW-Stout's commitment to providing flexible educational opportunities that align with workforce needs: “As Wisconsin’s Polytechnic University, we have an applied learning portfolio across all modalities: online, hybrid and in-person,” she stated.

The university's M.S. Manufacturing Engineering program equips students with skills applicable to industry challenges such as continuous process improvement and lean manufacturing. Money Magazine has acknowledged UW-Stout as one of two public Best Colleges in Wisconsin due to its affordability and student outcomes focus.
