Alek Laroi, a member of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's soccer team, has been recognized as the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Defensive Player of the Week for September 22-28. The award was determined by an anonymous vote among WIAC head coaches and Sports Information Directors.
Laroi contributed to UW-Eau Claire's victories over Macalester College and Beloit College during the week. He played 166 minutes, scoring two goals and providing one assist. Defensively, Laroi and his teammates limited their opponents to only two shots on goal across both matches, helping secure the team's fourth and fifth shutouts of the season.
"Alek Laroi has been named the men's soccer defensive player of the week by anonymous vote of WIAC head coaches and Sports Information Directors," according to a statement from WIAC.
The recognition highlights both Laroi's individual performance and the overall strength of UW-Eau Claire's defense during this period.
