UW-Stout highlights achievements in education, sustainability, veterans support

The University of Wisconsin-Stout has reported a series of accomplishments and recognitions in 2024, showcasing its role in workforce development and innovation. UW-Stout, known as Wisconsin's Polytechnic University, highlighted its graduates' success with 99% employed shortly after graduation and an average starting salary of $58,000. Money Magazine recognized the university as one of the best colleges in Wisconsin for affordability and student outcomes.

Chancellor Katherine Frank stated, "Being one of the best colleges reinforces the value of UW-Stout to prospective students... We’re focused on continuing to ensure the upward mobility of our graduates and their contributions to the workforce."

The university also received several awards, including an Excellence & Innovation Stewards of Place award from the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and recognition as a Family Friendly Workplace.

UW-Stout was named a Best for Vets College for 2024, ranking first among public universities or colleges in Wisconsin. It also earned a gold designation as a Military Friendly School for supporting military students.

In sustainability efforts, UW-Stout was named a national Green Ribbon school by the U.S. Department of Education and received an Energy Efficiency Excellence Award from Focus on Energy.

CEOWorld magazine ranked UW-Stout ninth globally for hospitality and hotel management schools. The Princeton Review praised its game design programs as top-ranking in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

New degree programs were introduced in science, art, and sustainability fields following approval by the Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents. Provost Glendalí Rodríguez expressed pride in faculty efforts to adapt offerings to meet student needs.

UW-Stout established new centers like CAM-AI for manufacturing support and sustainable communities research. Faculty are advancing AI research across various fields.

Collaborations with community children included projects involving toy design using AI rapid prototyping. Students won international recognition for packaging innovation at Pack Jam 2024.

Athletically, women's basketball reached NCAA DIII Sweet 16 semifinals while gymnastics placed fifth nationally. The esports team won state championships with plans for a new arena supported by donations.
