There were 8,421 students enrolled in Chippewa County school districts in the 2023-24 school year, 2.3% less than the previous year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

The county's data showed that 12th grade had the biggest classes with 680 students, while first grade saw the smallest enrollment that year with 516 students.

Countywide, Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District welcomed the most students during the 2023-24 school year.

Nearly 850,000 students were enrolled in Wisconsin schools in the 2021-22 school year. This is a 0.85% decrease from the year before. In sharp contrast to declining public school figures, enrollment in charter schools rose 4.5% to more than 52,000.
