The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's basketball team secured a 71-58 victory over UW-River Falls, marking their fourth consecutive win. The game took place on Wednesday at Page Arena in River Falls, Wisconsin. Key performances came from Carter Huschka and Andre Renta, who collectively scored 43 points for the Blugolds.
Huschka contributed 24 points and eight rebounds, while Renta added 19 points and six assists. The Blugolds (13-6, 5-3) widened their lead late in the first half after holding a narrow two-point advantage with five minutes left before halftime. They then outscored the Falcons (7-12, 1-7) by a margin of 16-4 to enter halftime with a score of 37-23.
In the second half, UW-Eau Claire's lead extended to as much as 20 points following a three-pointer by Renta that brought the score to 52-32 with just under fifteen minutes remaining. Although UW-River Falls managed to reduce the deficit to nine points at one stage, they could not close the gap further as UW-Eau Claire responded with an immediate eight-point run.
Cade Hall led his team with ten rebounds as part of their overall advantage on the boards at 39-27. The Blugolds shot effectively throughout the game, hitting 45% from the field and an impressive 56% from beyond the arc. They also made good use of free throws, converting sixteen out of nineteen attempts.
Looking ahead, after taking a break over the weekend, UW-Eau Claire will face off against UW-Stout on February 5 in Menomonie at 7 p.m.
