The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's basketball team secured a 60-56 win against UW-River Falls on Wednesday night, ending a six-game losing streak. The game took place at the Sonnentag Event Center, where the Blugolds achieved a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) regular-season split with the Falcons.

Kyla Overskei contributed significantly to the victory with her fifth double-double of the season, scoring 11 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Lauren Meudt led the team in scoring with 14 points, matching her season high.

UW-Eau Claire had a slow start but managed to lead UW-River Falls by halftime. After trailing 14-7 at the end of the first quarter, they outscored their opponents 18-9 in the second quarter to secure a 25-23 lead at halftime.

The third quarter saw UW-River Falls taking back control with a 9-2 run that put them ahead by four points. However, UW-Eau Claire dominated in the fourth quarter, outscoring their rivals 20-13. A decisive three-pointer from Overskei with less than three minutes remaining initiated a critical 10-2 run that ensured their victory.

Reanna Hutchinson added nine points and six rebounds for UW-Eau Claire, while Britta DeMar scored a career-best seven points. The Blugolds also excelled in rebounding, surpassing UW-River Falls 43-33 and shooting at an efficiency of 40% from the field.

The Blugolds will take some time off before facing No.15 ranked UW-Stout on February 5th at home.
