Blugolds track team dominates season opener with multiple victories

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's track and field teams launched their 2025 indoor seasons by hosting the annual Alumni Open alongside UW-River Falls. The event took place in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where the Blugolds emerged victorious in a total of 16 events.

The event winners included McKenzie Kruse, Emilia Lauinger, Sophia Korynta, and Kylee Grabarski in the 4x400m Relay with a time of 4:09.03. Allyson Kakes won both the 55m Run (7.34) and the 200m Run (26.19). Stefan Klechefski claimed victory in the 55m Run (6.44), while Jack Schreiber took first place in both the 200m Run (22.41) and the 400m Run (51.00).

Kylee Grabarski also won the individual 400m Run with a time of 59.79, while Brooklyn Lamers triumphed in the 800m Run at 2:28.16. Emilee Booker was successful in the 55m Hurdles (8.32), as was Blake Postler on the men's side with a time of 7.89.

In field events, Marley Ziemke achieved first place in High Jump at a height of 1.22 meters, and Johnny Botsch topped Pole Vault reaching up to 4.65 meters.

Kayla Behnke had notable performances by winning both Shot Put with a distance of 13.05 meters and Weight Throw at an impressive mark of 19.63 meters.

Adam Strouf captured first place in Shot Put throwing for a distance of 17.56 meters while Adam Beck succeeded in Weight Throw with a throw measuring up to15.97 meters.

Looking ahead, "the Blugolds will hit the road on Saturday, January 25th," competing at "the Aurora Grand Prix hosted by Aurora University" located in Chicago, Illinois starting from "11 a.m."
