UW-Eau Claire gymnasts compete against Division I teams at Ball State Quad

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team competed against three NCAA Division I teams at the Ball State Quad held at Worthen Arena in Muncie, Indiana, on Sunday. The Blugolds scored a total of 181.500 points, finishing in fourth place.

Ball State emerged victorious with a score of 194.450. Illinois secured second place with 194.175, and Southeast Missouri State came in third with 189.750.

UW-Eau Claire's standout performances were seen in the vault event, where they scored 47.625. Harriet Toth, a senior from Regina, Saskatchewan/Martin, led the team with a score of 9.625, tying for the fourth-highest vault score by a Blugold gymnast historically and placing her 15th overall in the event. Freshman Grace Gerster from Hampton, Minnesota/Randolph tied for 16th with a score of 9.575.

In the uneven bars category, the Blugolds achieved a score of 45.125, with freshman Ella Montgomery from Edina, Minnesota leading the way with a score of 9.400 that placed her 13th overall.

On the beam, UW-Eau Claire scored 44.200 points, with sophomore Meghan Dahlin from Holly, Michigan achieving their highest individual score of 9.225 and tying for 14th overall.

For the floor exercise event, the team posted a score of 44.550 led by senior Kelsey Donovan from Glen Ellyn, Illinois/Glenbard East who scored a 9.500 and placed her at 18th overall.

Looking ahead, UW-Eau Claire will host its home opener against UW-La Crosse for a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual on Friday, January 17 at McPhee Center starting at 6 p.m., which will also feature Youth Night activities.
