The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team was defeated by the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) with a score of 2-0 on Friday at Hobbs Ice Arena. The game was marked by its physicality and intensity, but the Blugolds were unable to score, resulting in their third shutout of the season.

During the match, MSOE managed to score once in each of the first two periods. Their goalie effectively kept out all 22 shots from the Blugolds. MSOE's first goal came late in the opening period, just over two minutes before it ended. They then extended their lead midway through the second period.

Both teams had opportunities with a total of ten power plays throughout the game, yet neither side could convert these chances into goals.

Max Gutjahr, a junior from Appleton, Wisconsin, made 16 saves while playing as goalkeeper for UW-Eau Claire.

The series is set to continue on Saturday, January 11 at Hobbs Ice Arena with a start time of 7 p.m. Fans can keep up with the Blugolds throughout the season on Blugolds.com or via their app, Blugold Sports, as well as on social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
