Blugolds gymnastics falls short against Gustavus Adolphus in WIAC opener

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team was defeated by Gustavus Adolphus College with a score of 184.225-181.825 in their season opener on Saturday. Despite securing individual event victories, the Blugolds were unable to surpass the Golden Gusties in this Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) match.

Harriet Toth, a senior from Regina, Saskatchewan, won the uneven bars with a score of 9.350 and tied for first place in the floor exercise with a 9.500. Toth also secured second place in the all-around category with a total score of 37.300.

Sophomore Meghan Dahlin from Holly, Michigan, achieved second place on the balance beam with a score of 9.475, while freshman Hareet Gehlon from Brampton, Ontario, took third place on the beam with a 9.225.

Junior Rachel Hettiarachchy from Blaine, Minnesota, placed third on the uneven bars scoring 9.150. Additionally, sophomore Cadence Cordova from Boise, Idaho, earned third place on the vault with a score of 9.450.

The Golden Gusties outperformed in all four events leading to their victory over the Blugolds.

Next up for the Blugolds is a competition at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, scheduled for Sunday, January 12. They will compete against Ball State, Illinois and Southeast Missouri State starting at 1 p.m. Eastern time.
