The University of Wisconsin-Stout is preparing for its fall commencement, scheduled for Saturday, December 14. A total of 510 students will be awarded degrees during the event, which will take place in Johnson Fieldhouse.
The commencement will feature two separate ceremonies. The first ceremony at 10 a.m. will honor graduates from the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Management as well as the College of Arts and Human Sciences. The second ceremony at 2 p.m. will be dedicated to Graduate Studies students.
Both events will be hosted by Provost Glendalí Rodríguez. Chancellor Katherine Frank is set to deliver remarks and confer degrees upon the graduates.
Among those addressing their peers are three student speakers: Ethan Myers from Pleasant Prairie, who studied packaging; Hannah Timm from Fremont, specializing in family and consumer sciences education; and Kalsow from Menomonie, who completed a master’s in clinical mental health counseling.
Alumni guest speakers include Emily Fanucci, an engineering manager at Advanced Molding Technologies and a 2010 UW-Stout graduate in technology education and manufacturing engineering. She will speak to undergraduate students. Laura Knudsen, a registered dietitian nutritionist with Mayo Clinic Health System and a UW-Stout alumna with a master's degree in food and nutritional sciences, will address Graduate Studies attendees.
Musical performances by the UW-Stout Symphonic Band and Jazz Orchestra under Erika Svanoe's direction are scheduled for both ceremonies. Additionally, Jerry Hui will direct performances by the Chamber Choir, Symphonic Singers, and Devil Tones Acapella.
Graduates and community members can participate online by sharing comments and photos using #StoutGrad2024 on social media platforms associated with UW-Stout.
Diplomas are expected to be mailed four to six weeks following the issuance of final grades.
