The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team secured its first victory in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) season with a 4-1 win against UW-Stout. The match took place on Saturday at the Fanetti Community Center.

Dayne Hoyord, a sophomore from Scandinavia, Wisconsin, scored his first two goals for the Blugolds, contributing significantly to their success. UW-Stout initially led by scoring in the last four minutes of the first period, taking a 1-0 lead into the intermission.

UW-Eau Claire responded quickly in the second period when Hoyord scored less than two minutes in, assisted by Kyler Grundy. Trenten Heyde then gave UW-Eau Claire the lead with a power play goal just before the end of the second period. His goal was assisted by Colin Stein and Kade Peterson.

Hoyord added another goal early in the third period with an assist from Connor Szmul. Jordan Randall sealed the game with an empty-net goal in its final minute.

Max Gutjahr was solid as goalkeeper for UW-Eau Claire, stopping 13 shots to secure the win. The team's penalty kill unit successfully defended against all five power plays from UW-Stout.

Looking ahead, UW-Eau Claire will face St. Norbert College on Friday, November 29th, for a two-game series starting at 7 p.m. Follow updates on Blugolds.com or through their social media channels.
