Erin Connolly has been elevated to the position of Assistant Women's Hockey Coach at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The announcement was made by head coach Erik Strand on Friday. Connolly, who previously held the role of goalie coach for three seasons, is a former standout goaltender for UW-Eau Claire from 2016 to 2020.
During her playing career, Connolly earned several accolades including being named a CCM/AHCA All-American and WIAC Player of the Year. She was also recognized as the WIAC Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete in her senior year. Her contributions helped the Blugolds secure O'Brien Cup championships in 2018 and 2019 and reach the NCAA Tournament in consecutive years from 2018 to 2020.
Connolly joined the coaching staff immediately after graduating and is part of a group of Blugold alumni who have transitioned into coaching roles post their playing careers. This group includes Elizabeth Bauer, Paige (Moilanen) Turner, Emma Peterson, and Danielle Slominski.
Chris Lombardo, who has been an assistant coach for seven seasons contributing to one of Division III's top defensive units, will now serve as a volunteer assistant.
