The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team ended their game against Bethel University with a scoreless tie on Saturday at Hobbs Ice Arena. Despite the lack of goals during regulation and overtime, the Blugolds secured a 2-1 victory in the subsequent shootout.

Max Gutjahr, a junior from Appleton, Wisconsin, successfully blocked all 28 shots he faced throughout regulation and overtime, marking his first shutout of the season. Gutjahr also contributed significantly in the shootout by making three crucial stops.

Freshman Max Dronen from Moorhead, Minnesota, and sophomore Kade Peterson from West Fargo, North Dakota, both succeeded in their penalty shots during the shootout to clinch the win for UW-Eau Claire.

The Blugolds (0-1-1) effectively killed three power plays from Bethel. Although Bethel held a slight edge with 28 shots compared to UW-Eau Claire's 23, neither team managed to score during regular play.

Looking ahead, UW-Eau Claire will aim for their first win of the season when they face Concordia College on Friday, November 15. The match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. in Moorhead, Minnesota.
