UW-Eau Claire volleyball secures No.4 seed after sweeping UW-La Crosse

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire volleyball team secured a decisive victory over UW-La Crosse, winning 3-0 at Mitchell Hall. This win clinched the No. 4 seed for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Tournament, presented by Culver's.

The Blugolds, ranked 24th, dominated the match with set scores of 25-19, 27-25, and 25-20. Mya Cinnamo led the offensive charge with 13 kills. Ella Kiebel contributed significantly with 38 assists, while Kaitlyn Erickson anchored the defense with 21 digs. Abby Stanwood added nine kills and 17 digs to the team's effort.

In the first set, a crucial 6-1 run helped turn a tie into a lead that UW-Eau Claire maintained throughout. The second set saw UW-Eau Claire start strong but face resistance from UW-La Crosse as they closed in on the score. Despite this rally, the Blugolds managed to secure the set after breaking a tie at 25 points each.

The third set was marked by an early lead for UW-Eau Claire, which they held onto until the end of the match.

With this victory, UW-Eau Claire will host fifth-seeded UW-Platteville on Tuesday, November 12, at the Sonnentag Event Center at 7 p.m., marking their next step in the WIAC Tournament.
