The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's cross country team secured second place at the Luther Saga Cup in Decorah, Iowa, on Friday. This marks their fourth top-three finish this season.
The Blugolds accumulated 34 team points, closely trailing behind Wartburg, which won with 21 points. All five of the team's scorers finished in the top ten individually. Freshman Jordan Chen from Chippewa Falls led the group by finishing fourth with a time of 23:51.6.
Freshman Leah Ottosen from Wausau followed closely behind Chen, securing fifth place with a time of 23:55.6. Saige Peterson, another freshman from Amherst, claimed sixth place by crossing the line in 24:00.8.
Sophomore Braeya Thomas from Port Washington and senior Marika Kisgen from Des Moines completed the scoring for UW-Eau Claire. Thomas finished ninth in 24:23.3, while Kisgen was just a fraction behind to take tenth place in 24:23.6.
Overall, eight runners from UW-Eau Claire finished within the top twenty positions.
Looking ahead, the Blugolds are preparing for the NCAA postseason. They will compete at the North Regional on Saturday, November 16th in Northfield, Minnesota, with races beginning at 11 a.m.
