FOIA Request to St. Croix County Sheriff's Department Regarding Arrest Records on October 22, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Chippewa Valley Times have submitted a request for public records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq.
The requested information includes all arrest records from January 1, 2024, to the present day. We have specifically asked for several data points if available, such as the arrestee's name, sex, race, age, date of birth (DOB), citizenship status, booking ID, date of arrest and booking photo. Additional details like the name(s) of arresting officer(s), type of crime committed, location of crime and date of crime are also requested.
We believe that access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we hope that our request for a fee waiver as a media professional will be considered favorably.
