Izzy Grace, a sophomore from Green Bay, Wisconsin, has been named UW-Eau Claire Athletics' Blugold of the Week. Grace is majoring in Biology and Psychology with a minor in pre-professional health sciences.
Grace chose UW-Eau Claire for its volleyball team culture and academic focus. She highlighted the new science building as a significant draw, offering unique opportunities. "The Volleyball team culture is unlike anything I've ever been a part of," she said. "I knew this place would be my home, and this team would be my family."
Balancing academics and athletics is crucial for Grace. She manages her schedule by using breaks to complete schoolwork before practice and utilizing long bus rides for homework.
Her favorite pre/post-competition snack is peanut butter and bananas, and she revealed her talent for juggling. Grace's dream job is to become a real estate agent, and if given the chance to travel anywhere, she would choose the Maldives. Ariana Grande tops her list of celebrities she'd like to spend a day with.
Grace advises fellow student-athletes to maintain balance between academics and sports while prioritizing personal motivation.
Head Volleyball Coach Kim Wudi praised Grace: "Izzy leads by example no matter where she is - in practice, in the weight room, on the court or on the sideline." Wudi added that Grace embodies the phrase "a rising tide lifts all boats," enhancing the team's performance.
