The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team secured third place at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship held on Sunday at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin. The Blugolds accumulated 16 points in the overall conference standings, which included both regular-season dual performances and conference tournament results.
All competitors from the Blugolds placed within the top four of their respective flights. Samantha Fuchs and Anna Lee were notable performers for the team, achieving second place in No. 1 singles and No. 2 singles, respectively. Fuchs also earned a spot on the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
Liv Herzog claimed third place at No. 4 singles, while Reese Burton and Téa Armstrong each took third in their respective categories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, winning their matches in straight sets.
In doubles play, Fuchs and Lee teamed up to secure third place at No. 1 doubles with an 8-1 victory in their match. Armstrong paired with Aubrey Wittwer to achieve third place at No. 3 doubles with another decisive 8-1 win.
Morgan Dekan finished fourth at No. 3 singles and alongside Herzog also took fourth place at No. 2 doubles.
Overall, UW-Eau Claire ended four points behind WIAC champion UW-Whitewater in the standings.
The Blugolds are set to return to action in spring with their first dual scheduled for February 8, 2025.
