Blugolds swimming teams remain undefeated after sweeping UW-Stevens Point

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's men's and women's swimming and diving teams maintained their strong start to the season with a sweep against UW-Stevens Point on Friday night. The Blugold men secured a 201.5-92.5 victory, while the women triumphed with a score of 207-92, keeping their unbeaten record in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).

Kiara Bissen from Madison, Wisconsin, played a significant role for the Blugold men by winning three individual events and one relay. She claimed first place in the 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle, and 200-yard breaststroke, as well as participating in the victorious 400-yard medley relay.

For the Blugold women, Ella Josephs from Plymouth, Sydney McGuine from Huntley, Illinois, and Elaine Proefrock from Grafton each won two individual events. Josephs excelled in both one-meter and three-meter diving competitions. McGuine finished first in the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard freestyle and contributed to the winning 400-yard medley relay team. Amber Winter from Merrill also won the 400-yard medley relay and the 100-yard breaststroke.

Ben Keller from Cedarburg led the Blugold men by winning three individual events along with a relay victory. He placed first in the 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard butterfly, and 200-yard individual medley.

Zhander Rowley from Janesville and Kadin Denner from Aurora were part of the successful 400 medley relay team; both athletes also won three events overall. Blake Wallen from Savage achieved an NCAA Zones qualifying score on the one-meter diving board with a tally of 279.15.

The Blugolds will host their home opener on Saturday, November 2nd against UW-La Crosse at McPhee Pool.
