University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's women's basketball team has announced a new addition to its coaching staff. Head Coach Tonja Englund revealed that Nikki Seibel will be joining as an assistant coach.
Seibel comes to UW-Eau Claire after a decade-long tenure as the head girls' basketball coach at Bloomer High School, where she accumulated a career record of 158-83. During her time there, she led the Blackhawks to two Heart O' North Conference championships and reached the 2016-17 WIAA Division 3 state tournament.
Her connection with basketball runs deep, having been a three-time all-conference player at Bloomer High School. As a freshman in 2000, she was part of the school's Division 3 state runner-up team. Seibel furthered her athletic career by playing golf at Winona State University while earning an undergraduate degree in special education and teaching. She also holds a master's degree in school counseling and guidance services from UW-Stout.
The Blugolds are set to begin their season on Saturday, November 9, with the Market & Johnson Blugold Tip-Off Tournament. This event marks the debut of Blugold basketball at the new Sonnentag Event Center, where they will face Simpson College in their season opener at noon.
Fans can follow the Blugolds throughout the season via their official website, Blugolds.com, or through social media platforms including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
