Blugolds women's soccer secures shutout win against Luther College

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team returned to Simpson Field on Wednesday evening for a nonconference matchup with Luther College. Despite no goals in the first half, the Blugolds scored three times in the second half to secure their fourth victory of the season, 3-0.

Despite 13 shots in the first 45 minutes, UW-Eau Claire was unable to break through the Luther Norse defense, keeping the game tied at 0-0 at halftime.

Haley Von Rentzall found the game's opening goal in the 64th minute after slotting home a centering pass from Anna Lorenzana for a 1-0 Blugold lead. Three minutes later, Grace Prairie extended Eau Claire's lead by floating a ball into the top right corner from outside the 18-yard box. Molly Henderson was credited with an assist after finding Prairie with space.

Jayda Swopes sealed the three-goal victory in the 88th minute with a backdoor tap-in from Kori Millis and Taylor Czarapata.

Kennedy Boll collected her third shutout of the season as she saw no shots on goal in her fourth victory. Boll is now 4-3-1 for the year.

The Blugolds (4-3-1) will head back on the road on Saturday, September 21st when they travel to Indianola, Iowa to face Simpson College. Kickoff from Buxton Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m.
