The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire volleyball team began Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play on Wednesday with a road matchup against UW-Stevens Point. The Blugolds' six-game win streak came to an end as they fell to the Pointers 3-1 away from home.
Mya Cinnamo once again led the Blugold attack with 13 kills. Bailey Leeke and Lili Hagg weren't far behind with a combined 18 kills on the night. From the service line, the Blugolds eclipsed 100 service aces on the season with nine during the four-set match. Amelia Herrick held the team high and a career high with three aces.
The Blugold offense was kept quiet on the night, eclipsing a hitting rate of .200 in just one set. Hannah Thole tallied 25 assists on the night and continues to lead the WIAC in assists with 495 on the year.
The Blugolds (8-4-0) will take the weekend off before returning to WIAC play on Wednesday, September 25th when they host UW-River Falls. First serve from McPhee Gymnasium is scheduled for 7 p.m.
