The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire football team held their home opener on Saturday against Coe College at Carson Park. Despite trailing 21-7 at halftime, the Blugolds rallied with 21 second-half points. The game extended into double overtime, where Coe College intercepted Eau Claire's two-point conversion attempt to secure a 43-41 victory.

Harry Roubidoux had a standout performance, achieving career highs with 409 passing yards, 32 completions, and six touchdowns. This effort tied the program record for most passing touchdowns in a single game, previously set by Jesse Krzyzanowski in 2005 against Illinois Wesleyan.

Nolan Stans contributed significantly with three touchdowns, including two in the third quarter. He finished with 106 receiving yards on seven receptions. Isaac Garside led the team with 143 receiving yards and eight receptions, while Yaach Chuol added six catches for 81 yards and one touchdown.

In overtime, both teams initially converted their scoring opportunities. However, after Coe College fumbled their two-point conversion only to recover it successfully in the end zone, Eau Claire responded but failed to convert their own two-point attempt due to an interception.

Defensively, UWEC showed resilience in the second half. Landon Wesloh recorded his first career interception early in the fourth quarter to prevent a Coe score. Jack Tomkins secured his first career sack later in the quarter on a crucial fourth down play.

Brady Hoffner led Eau Claire's defense with 11 tackles. JP Wolterstorff and Landon Wesloh each added ten tackles.

The Blugolds (1-1) will conclude their nonconference schedule on September 21st with a trip to Bethel University in St. Paul, Minn., kicking off at Royal Stadium at 1 p.m.
